Lt(N) Paul LaHay on Security and
Intrusion
Come and listen to issues and solutions
on service desk security and intrusion. Lt(N) Paul LaHay
has just successfully completed his thesis on “Using
Spyware to Conduct Surveillance in Private Networks”. He
has spent a few years digging the underworld of spyware
and intrusion technologies. He will have a Q&A session
on current intrusion and protection issue. Come and find
out how vulnerable and “securable” your help desk centre
can be.
Wednesday, November 20th Event –
Lt(N) Paul La Hay
“Security and Intrusion”
Lt(N)
Paul La Hay, a Guelph Ontario native, was born 29 May 1973. He
graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1998 with a
degree in Computer Engineering and a Minor in History.
Anxious to use his degree, Lt(N) La Hay finished his
Marine System’s Engineering training onboard HMCS ALGONQUIN and
because the Assistant Head of Department onboard HMCS PROTECTEUR.
After spending two years as Flag Lieutenant to the
Commander Canadian Fleet Pacific, Lt(N) La Hay decided that it was
time to stay home for a while and went back to the Royal Military
College to obtain his Master’s degree. He and his wife Jolene are
the proud parents of Zachary.
Lt(N) La Hay’s research focused on spyware
infections that disclosed individual’s web browsing activity. Using
known spyware infections, his research demonstrated that user
profiles can be created automatically from network traces. Multiple
tracking methods used by spyware hosts were crossed referenced
together to create larger user profiles representing actual user web
browsing history.
Find out the latest techniques used by “psying”,
“spoofing”, “spamming”, and “googleling” technologies to invade
networks and people working on the net. Bring your security and
intrusion questions and Paul will be glad to share his knowledge and
experience on these issues.
